Geoff Scovil - Attorney & Advocate for Client Constitutional Rights

Attorney Geoff Scovil

Geoff Scovil has his own private law practice in Albuquerque, New Mexico and focuses primarily on habeas corpus law and the protection of citizens' rights under the U.S. and New Mexico Constitutions. He has concentrated largely on criminal defense for indigent clients, whom he serves with an in-depth knowledge of the law of misdemeanor and felony crimes. Attorney Geoffrey Scovil advocates for these clients' needs by discovering and challenging trial errors, ineffective assistance of counsel, and unconstitutional sentencing that have violated clients' rights in past litigation.

Geoffrey Scovil comes to this role backed by experience in the New Mexico Public Defender Department, where he served following his law school graduation. He holds a juris doctor from Case Western Reserve University School of Law in Cleveland, Ohio, where he enrolled in 1993 after receiving a perfect score on his Law School Admissions Test.

An avid athlete, traveler, and outdoorsman in his free time, Scovil also supports local and regional non-profit organizations such as the Outpost Performance Space, the New Mexico Wilderness Alliance, and New Mexico Legal Aid.
